When we were trying to figure out where we would go for our first morning in Rajasthan, my friend mentioned the Bharatiya Lok Kala Museum. I wasn't too excited about it, until she mentioned that her guidebook says it has the largest turban in the world. I was sold -- "let's go!"
We arrived to a bit of a surprise -- the electricity was out, and thus all of the lights as well. We tried to talk with the ticket salesman to see if the lack of lights would be a problem, but clearly there was no way of actually figuring it out. So, we plunked down our rupees, and headed into the museum, unsure of what kind of light would be in store for us.
As it turns out, we got kind of a unique experience -- with all of the lights out, and being an old stone building, the place was nearly pitch black. Thankfully, our $20 mobile phones come with a built in flash light feature, which we made use of to explore the galleries and exhibits. It's not what I expected, but it was kind of fun to shine my mobile at a piece of art to examine it, as if I were controlling the spotlight.
Oh, and the turban. It's huge. Really huge. Too big for anyone to wear, so it does make you wonder why it was made in the first place, but, hey, who am I to argue with a gigantic turban?

To quote SNL's Celebrity Jeopardy: "It's a big hat. It's funny because it's bigger than a normal-sized hat."
