Chicken Tikka and a Monsoon

Even months before coming to India, people have been telling me about it being "monsoon season" while I am studying here. However, the monsoon has been quite late, which is bad for farming in India, bad for cooling off the incredibly high temperatures in India, but good for general travel.

Our first night in Rajasthan, we must have brought the monsoon with us, because we got stuck in the middle of a crazy storm. We were sitting down to dinner at a rooftop cafe, when out of the corner of my eye I saw some really ominous black clouds. We went to take pictures, and within a minute or two, the waiter asked us to please move inside because the rain was about to start. As we sat eating dinner, we looked out the window and saw the rain come pouring down, and lighting flashing throughout the sky.

However, by the time we had finished dinner, the rain had lessened to a mere sprinkle, and soon the rain had moved on, leaving in its place much cooler, though also much more humid weather. In all, the monsoon rains made for a nice travel companion.
