Our trip involved a lot of driving, so that, obviously, meant listening to lots of our guide's mix CDs. There was one mix I was particularly into because of its ridiculous techno songs, including one that I liked for its absurd lyrics. The song starts with a guy listing all the types of girls he likes "short girls...tall girls...scandinavian girls...etc." until the chorus which simply goes "I get all the girls, I get all the girls." Click here to watch the music video of the song!
After dinner at a restaurant/bar in Jodhpur, I was joking that we should go act ridiculously on the dance floor, since, afterall, no one in India would ever see us again, anyway. So we did for a couple of songs, and even got a group of locals to join us. We then sat down again, until I had another stroke of genius: how funny would it be to play the 'I get all the girls" song in an Indian bar? I said it in jest, but our guide/friend took it on as his challenge and ran out to the car to get his mix cd. Within 10 minutes our song was blasting, and we were running amok on a dance-floor-for-four!
Though I felt badly about the locals being kicked off, I was too busy laughing at the situation -- and our crazy jumping dance moves -- to care too much. The bottom line: we're huge in India.
