Aloo in the Dark

What's the one thing harder than eating a big Indian meal in which you one-handedly rip off pieces of cipatti bread, dunk and dip them in various dishes arranged on your plate, and miraculously help find its way to your mouth? Doing so in the dark.

For our night in Jaisalmer, we ate dinner up on the roof of our "Hotel Titanic," which had an amazing view of Jaisalmer Fort perched atop the hill all lit up. The meal was delicious, but needless to say, incredibly difficult to eat, resulting in much confusion as to what we were eating (I actually used my mobile phone's built in flashlight at one point), as well as some awkward pants stains from near-misses.

But, while we ate delicious -- albeit mysterious -- food, there was an Indian wedding going on in town, which resulted in fireworks lighting up the skyline with the fort at one end. It provided a beautiful backdrop in which to eat a meal that neither myself, nor my pants, will forget.
