Always Carry Your Camera with You

My number one rule of travel: always carry your camera with you -- even if you just step out for a minute. The beauty of travel is in seeing the mundane in exciting, fresh, new ways. Last night we checked out the Ahmedabad Night Bazaar (lots of pictures to come from there), and ended up strolling along, wandering, exploring, with the warm summer night enticing us to continue.

At a random intersection, in a random part of town, I came across this scene: a dog, soaking itself in a tub which had filled with rain water from the brief storm earlier in the evening. He sat, content with life, as the craziness of India swirled around him.

Though, from a technical perspective, the photo is far from perfect, it is one of my favorite travel photos I've taken. Why? It just seems to capture this unique moment, at this unique point in time better than any words I were to write could. So, since I can't choose which one I like best -- though would love your feedback -- I present the picture in 8x10 format, 4x6 color, and 4x6 black and white.
